Delayed Auditory Feedback Pocket Fluency System (FOR SPEECH PATHOLOGISTS ONLY)
Delayed auditory feedback (DAVE) delays the user's voice to his ears a fraction of a second. A short delay (50 milliseconds) reduces stuttering about 70% at normal speaking rates, with normal-sounding speech, without training or speech therapy. A long delay (75-200 milliseconds) induces a slower speaking rate, which can nearly eliminate even severe stuttering and produce carryover fluency, but requires training from a speech-language pathologist.
An updated version, The Basic Fluency System, is available through the company.
