Steps in the Shared Reading Flowchart

  1. Begin by reading the page and comment
  2. Wait
  3. Does the student comment, question, or interact?
    1. If "Yes" to comment, question, or interact then respond by repeating and adding a little more
    2. If "No" to comment, question, or interact then ask for participation
      1. If the learner typically comments or leads the interaction, ask for participation with "C.R.O.W.D."
        1. C. stands for Completion
        2. R. stands for Recall
        3. O. stands for Open-ended
        4. W. stands for "wh-" questions
        5. D. Stands for distancing
      2. Wait
      3. Does the student comment, question, or interact?
        1. If "Yes" to comment, question, or interact then respond by repeating and adding a little more.  Go to the next page.
        2. If "No" to comment, question, or interact then demonstrate a possible comment then go to the next page and repeat from the beginning
